We are standing on the shore of a lake. A line of tall trees of varying heights runs across a narrow peninsula which stands between us and the rest of the lake. There is a low ridge behind them across the lake. Trees, peninsula and ridge are all silhouetted against the sunset. The sky is cloudy, but clearing along the western horizon. There is a patch of gold where the sun is setting. The bottoms of the clouds covering most of the sky are painted pink and blue violet. Trees and sky are reflected in the slightly rippled waters of the small cove in front of us.
