@bricabrac Murena devices and /e/ have poor privacy and atrocious security. They fail to keep up with OS updates and crucial privacy/security patches along with not providing standard privacy/security protections. Being weeks, months and even years behind on updates to the kernel, drivers, firmware, the rest of the OS and browser engine is a huge problem. Despite the marketing, /e/ has privacy invasive services and gives privileged access to Google apps/services.
...i'm more than happy in getting friends to the idea and use of degoogled smartphones or #linux, but in the first steps it has to be very simple in changing. That's a maybe ready bought #eOS, #shiftphone or #iode .
And my opinion.

@bricabrac Those are insecure devices without proper updates from day one and lack long term support. We're not going to use devices which don't have essential privacy/security patches and security protections needed to protect users in the real world.
A major OEM capable of meeting all of our requirements reached out to us in June 2025 and is announcing details of our partnership in March 2026. The devices we'll be able to use will be launched in 2027. It takes a lot to provide what's needed.
Guys, you are the pro's, i am a small, tiny user which is scratching the surface of this whole important agenda.

Again, i think, to enter this room of digital self defense, it has to be as simple as possible.
You're having a deal with secret manufacturer, okay, i think, many followers (me too) are happy to know this and we're waiting for the release!

For keeping up many years with the same device. (And not to ruin the kids pocketmoney when crashing sth.).
Second should be a fair product.
Security by graphene-gold-standard-out-of-the-box-design is very important, of course, but actually, it is also important to see the other benefits, see above and former posts.
Regard it as an easy exit from google et al. in the first step.
