Quite interesting: On #Android, or at least #GrapheneOS, deleting the data of an app doesn’t reset its app icon if the app set a custom app icon, and the app can query this fact and know that its app icon isn’t the default.

I'm pleased to learn that GrapheneOS (and, presumably, similar things, like LineageOS) won't be directly affected by Google's apparent attempt to seize Apple-like control over what apps you're allowed to install on your Android phone, and to extract economic rents (and personal information) from app developers.

If you own a recent enough non‒carrier-branded Pixel, I'd encourage you to install GrapheneOS on it. If you don't, and can afford a second-hand Pixel once every five years or so (the Pixel 8a, for example, has security support promised till at least May 2031), I'd encourage you to get one in order to put GrapheneOS on it. (Yes, ironically, I am recommending Google-branded phones in order to escape Google's attempted app gatekeeping.)

If you can't afford a Pixel, see if you can find another phone you can install another operating system on, like LineageOS. (You might already have one.)

Google plant, einen Teil der #DiDay bzw. #DuT Bemühungen zu verhindern oder mindestens zu erschweren. Nicht Google-zertifizierte Apps sollen unter Android nicht mehr lauffähig sein. Damit könnte Google jede APP, die etwa irgendeinem Tramp nicht gefällt, weltweit abschalten. Verteilung von APPs über alternative APP-Shops wie #FDroid wäre für Nutzer von _normalem_ Android nicht mehr möglich. #GrapheneOS #LineageOS und Derivate können diese Funktion mit erhöhtem Aufwand zwar umgehen, werden aber (noch) nicht von jedem DiDay-Teilnehmer genutzt.

Also ich benutze jetzt seit knapp einem Jahr #GrapheneOS auf einem Pixel Pro 9 – und die Bilder der Kamera sind wirklich beeindruckend. Für den Alltagsgebrauch nutze ich wie oben beschrieben die Google Kamera App (ohne Netzwerkzugang) aus dem #AuroraStore, wenn ich Parameter manuell einstellen will #OpenCamera aus dem #FDroidStore.
Die Installation von GrapheneOS war problemlos ohne vorherige Verbindung des Geräts mit einem Google-Account möglich.

Ich kann nur bestätigen das die Kameras der pro Serie das beste sind wo ich bisher am Handy erlebt habe.
Unter #GrapheneOS allerdings auch nur mit der #Google Kamera-App.
Was allerdings kein Problem darstellt - die gibt's auch im #aurora Store.
