The Gröf
Grafarkirkja turf church is Iceland's oldest; parts of it date back to the 17th century and it's mentioned in Sturlunga Saga c. 1240. It has a circular turf wall around it.
The first time we visited Iceland, I noticed the similarity between the words "kirk," the Auld Scots word, and the Icelandic equivalent. It's even pronounced in the same way, almost without sounding the vowel - "krrk."
