Are there any communication/texting apps or software that are confirmed not to use any AI or LLMs in their code or coding process? Software with clear no-AI policies?
Self-hosting, E2EE, and open source would also be good, but for now I'm just wondering if there are any anti-AI chat app lists out there.

#deltachat boasts easy onboarding. Sure. I downloaded the app and picked a display name, and that was it.
But that is super confusing. Where do my account details live? Only on my phone?
I can “add second device” through QR code. Does that mean if I only have it on my phone and I lose my phone, I’ll have no way of recovering my account?
There’s a lot of mention about using an email account for the service, but I can’t see that anywhere in the iOS app.
If I add a second device, will message threads automatically sync between devices? Or are my encrypted conversations stored on a server from which my devices will retrieve them?
Where is my encryption key stored? Is that what I’m copying when adding a second device?
Easy onboarding for sure, but I’m left with a million unanswered questions. Can’t really recommend the app to anyone if I can’t explain how it even works 🥴
I am super impressed. Last night I switched my #deltachat relay server to one I found running in Japan. It was simple. I didn't have to re-invite any of my connections. Everything just worked. This ability is really a big deal and I'm surprised it is not being talked about more loudly. Not only is Delta Chat decentralized, but you can easily recover from a relay server shutting down without losing contacts. This is even better than Mastodon's migration feature.

I hear a lot about Matrix being a truly decentralized protocol. But if you register with an instance and it goes down, all users under that instance go down with it. It happened a couple of months ago @ matrix.com and everybody knows it.
Differently, Delta Chat allows users to register same account on different relays so if the main goes down, users can just switch relay and keep chatting.
That makes Delta Chat one step ahead. Prove me wrong.
I get to help choose a social chat app for an online computer science education conference. We'd want something that's:
* Free (or at least inexpensive)
* Easy for new users
* Accessible
* Can be used by participants in all countries
* Can handle hundreds of people in the same "room"
* Makes it easy for people to go off into (and find) smaller rooms
* Should probably support audio and/or video chat (although we'll already have Zoom)

@gertvk it'd be cool if you could find some hosting in NZ or some of the islands in vicinity 😊 there is no lack of relays in Europe currently, and it will be likely noticebly slower for users in NZ if routed via europe.
@delta What are the specifications for uptime % for a #deltachat
chatmail relay server ?
Don't think I've seen anything on that...
I used to run a server from home, I wonder if that would be an option 🙂
