@bobjonkman @bikenite A4. I had heard of one before, in the context of a small business card that has things to check if someone hits you with their car while you are riding a bike.
I wish I had one when I came across a rider who had been doored. The driver was angry and aggressive, and the cyclist had minor-ish looking injuries (cut on face, probably some bruising elsewhere) but was sort of in non-medical shock. I told him that he should call police and file a report just in case, and luckily found a SF Bicycle Coalition collision checklist online that I referred him to.

I don't know how it all turned out. I think a neighbor saw what happened and called an ambulance for him. The driver got mad "why is everyone worried about him?! What about my car? he hit my car!" Totally insane car brain behavior.
She had clearly opened her car door without checking for oncoming traffic.

A4. I've been saying for years I should have a laminated card made up with my partner's and son's contact information in case I'm hit (or take a fall). (I always have my own ID with me when I ride.)
I'll ask my partner if there's anything like that readily available. If not, I'll make one myself.
@geonz @ascentale @bobjonkman @bikenite That might work. I wonder if I could get them to do Japanese.
@ascentale @bobjonkman @bikenite I've never heard of this before but it sure sounds like a good idea, I should make one
@moira @ascentale @bobjonkman @bikenite I was thinking the same thing myself.
@ascentale @bobjonkman @bikenite #bikeNite a4 Illinois bike org may still be handing out a little trifold that has the laws for drivers & cyclists in Illinois (so it's been handed to cops sometimes) and a checklist.
If I had one, I would put on it that even if somebody who crashed says THEY ARE FINE that's sometimes an adrenaline thing. (that's another quesiton, I guess: do you have a story of people Riding The Rest of The Way and then figuring out they were pretty messed up???)
@geonz @ascentale @bobjonkman @bikenite I had a fall while going a pretty good clip back in my wasted youth, on a frosty January morning. It was less than 2km from the uni hospital, and downhill, so I just coasted there and checked myself in.
Doc checked me over for broken bones. All good. He advised me to go home and get in a hot tub with my clothes on, so I wouldn't rip all the road rash open when I undressed.
And he said, "You're going to feel like hell as soon as you warm up." He was right.
The road rash healed faster than the two sprained thumbs.
