@ascentale @meganL @bikenite #BikeNite A5. Simple: We don't. There is statistically no significant danger to public safety presented by ebikes, so this is not a problem that in my eyes requires legislation.

Now, having visited the Bay Area of California in 2024, I can tell you that in the weeks I was there, I saw maybe one adult on a bicycle. The majority of ebike riders I saw were young children who were unwisely given cheap "Amazon special" ebike devices by their parents.

@ascentale @pete @bikenite A2. The older I get, the more the activist in me grows. I gave up the car, because I realized how bad cars all over are. Do a lot by bicycle now. Also added myself an e-bike for convenience (and more speed ti get around) and to protect knee joints.

@ascentale @meganL @bikenite A5. It sounds like a successful campaign by the car industry, if now e-bikes were the enemy instead of cars. If all e-bikers could ride _safely_ on the road built for cars, we wouldn't have many problems anymore.

We haven't seen much rain in November, but in October. Yesterday I went through the vineyards of Riesling in the area of Rheingau near Rüdesheim. Will have to wait for spring to see leaves again, though.

@ascentale @bikenite #BikeNite Q8. I keep forgetting to take a photo for #FrostPendeln of winter commuting in Hamburg. You'll just have to take my word that it's been rainy and cool and I'm loving it.

@pete @bikenite A2. I don't know if I feel wiser, but I certainly feel older. I take fewer risks in regards to which streets I ride on and how much I try to push the speed when going down hills and around turns. I am probably also less capable 😕 and I don't get a chance to ride for fun as much anymore. I don't try to exert myself as hard, in order to prevent injury.

I guess I have also learned some things. I am better prepared for rain (see Q1) and for carrying stuff. Maybe I take better care of my bikes now? Or at least I know about warning signs earlier?
