This right here is why I won't do any age verification and will quit a platform if they try to force me instead of letting me continue to use it.
I've quit multiple social media platforms over the years, including FB. In a way it's cutting off my nose to spite my face. When I left FB I lost contact with everyone I did activism with because they wouldn't leave. I became heavily isolated. It was still worth it to not be on that site any longer. I've built up some connections here and the rest of my socializing comes from video games because Sony hasn't started this bullshit yet.
Just say no to digital versions of "show me your papers."
The Thiel/Palantir backed Persona age verification platform that Roblox, Reddit and Discord use left loads of info on insecure systems.
"researchers found details about the extensive surveillance Persona software performs on its users. Beyond checking their age, the software performs 269 distinct verification checks, runs facial recognition against watchlists and politically exposed persons, screens “adverse media” across 14 categories (including terrorism and espionage), and assigns risk and similarity scores.
Persona collects—and can retain for up to three years—IP addresses, browser and device fingerprints, government ID numbers, phone numbers, names, faces, plus a battery of “selfie” analytics like suspicious-entity detection, pose repeat detection, and age inconsistency checks."
