The weeks #Lego #FossilFriday is #Ichthyosaurus

In 1814, Mary and Joseph Anning found the first fairly complete specimen.

In 1818, Charles Kong first used the name Ichthyosaurus, but it was not a scientific description.

In 1819, James Everard Home formally described the first Ichthyosuarus, Proteosaurus, now Temnodontosaurus.

In 1821, Henry De la Beche and William Conybeare formally named Ichthyosaurus

In 1974, after an extensive search, C. McGowan reported the initial specimen lost.
