@amd I used ejabberd for a while, but found configuring it to be an actual nightmare. Switched to Prosody and have stayed on it ever since. It's now probably been well over five years, maybe closer to ten.
@koz how much of a resource hog is prosody? Debating where I put it in my infra.
@amd I'm running my server on a 2008 EeePC. Literally, that thing is so anemic I have to use a combination layer-2 and layer-3 proxy to offload _certificate checking_ to a different device, as it was bottlenecking transfers. Oh, and a USB NIC because the onboard one is slower, despite being capped to USB2.
Checking my loadaverage, I get 0.11, 0.03 and 0.01 across the whole system, which includes Prosody and nginx hosting a half-dozen sites.
@amd So, in short, 'it'll run on any potato just fine'.
