Let's see if trying to do a fresh dump (not bit-by-bit) works. And after that try the bit-by-bit one again.
It finished!
So let's try to do a image backup using MakeMKV next.
And if that works, try to do the same using MPF and redumper.
MakeMKV backup finished successfully.
Now try redumper just to check. That one failed before on all 4 drives. If that one works now too then just leaving the disk in the drive for 1-2 days (while IsoBuster tried to read all of the damaged sectors in an endless loop) really (at leat for now) repaired that disk.
Still surprising but the results speak for themselves.
#MPF backup now worked too. Pulled the disk out. And my suspicion about the glue appear to be correct. The edges are quite sticky and when I put it onto the scanner the underside also looks a bit different now.
However the #MPF backup doesn't play in VLC, both of the MakeMKV backups work just fine though?!?!
Looks like this is in fact a #VLC bug. When I throw either the .ISO, the .CUE/.BIN (from the #Aaru dump) against VLC, or point it towards the virtual cd/dvd drive where it is mounted it'll have a distorted play. Image overlayed with some green artefacts and for the main movie the picture (except for a handfull of still frames at random intervals) cutting out entirely.
HOWEVER when I point VLC directly at the "\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_0.IFO" file it plays it just fine...
