@geerlingguy and a bare Raspberry Pi has typically not been an option for an #OpenWrt based mesh router: The Broadcom WiFi sucks for mesh routing, it doesn't support 11s (and it doesn't support AP mode and multiple virtual WLAN interfaces, if I recall correctly?).
And only a single ethernet port has been annoying for that, too. Of course, you can always use a USB ethernet dongle(s), but then you have to make sure to install the right driver(s) and to not confuse the roles for each port.
