I start this kind of tutorial for installing #postmarketOS #linux distribution on #xiaomi ( #小米 ) Redmi S2.

It's linux, so I advice to ask help to #lug ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_user_group ), read documentation, ask questions in user's forums, etc... GNU/Linux is nothing without its community.

The photos show

And
https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/Installation

Very important to read.

Then the installation tool asks you the name of the default user in the future linux phone.
Not necessarily your first name!

And wifi system: I reply nothing for WiFi, and trust default setting

After typing your #linux computer's password, they ask for vendor or model.
Very important, don't make mistake!

Vendor: qcom
Model, device codename: msm8953

On the
https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/Installation
page I choose 'Install with pmbootstrap' https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/Installation/Using_pmbootstrap

To install #pmbootstrap on your computer, it depends on your #linux distribution.
https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/linux-unix/understanding-package-managers-and-systemctl/
There are graphical tools, like synaptic in mint.

Then, you can open a console, and follow
https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/Installation/Using_pmbootstrap#Initializing_pmbootstrap

The images shows pmbootstrap init command with my answers:
two times nothing, the last time v25.06 to have better system stability

You'll need a computer with #linux
And install #pmbootstrap a system which generate a specialised postmarketOS version depending on the phone and your choices, and then flashes (puts linux in the phone when the phone is plugged to computer via usb cable).

Some people here explain better than me what is #flashing.
Long version is here :)

We'll flash with #postmarketOS tools.
