Wow, I just installed the latest #LinuxMint with #Xfce desktop on a 19 year-old #iMac with a beautiful 20" screen (4gb RAM, 1tb disk) and it's 😍

Absolutely usable for web surfing, emails, documents, like all normal office use. Blown away by just how good old hardware can perform if one uses the right software.

Das kann ich bestätigen. Bei mir laufen die ersten Gehversuche mit Linux Mint sehr angenehm.
Ja, es gibt Fallstricke, aber das meiste lässt sich mit etwas Recherche beheben. Jetzt heißt es, die Familie davon zu überzeugen und alles zu migrieren. Ist vor allem Office, Social Media & Co.

Die "professionellen" oder geübten Linux User, werden sich schlapp lachen. Und ja, manchmal bin ich ein DAU. Fragt nicht. Passiert einfach. Aber selbst ein DAU kann ein Linux Dings verwenden.. es ist nur die Frage wie lang und ob das dann Spaß macht. Aber bisher läuft es immer noch recht gut.

Ich suche einen Kalender für #linuxmint (und ggf. auch einen für #ios), der aus einem Freitexteintrag Termine erstell: "Abendessen MIT Luke Skywalker UM 08:30 IN Hogwarts" Calendar 5 für iOS konnte das, bisher finde ich aber nix vergleichbares. Kennt ihr was?

Mit Kaffeine ... und zwar besser als mit TV Software auf Windows 11.
