Hey all,

I have a friend who's been trying to get on Mastodon but tells me that it doesn't seem to play well with screen readers. I know there are plenty of people on the fedi who do use screen readers, but I have no experience with them myself, so I can't really direct him.

Can someone who does use a #ScreenReader point me in the direction of some resources that might be useful?

Grmpf. Also Untertitel an Videos schrauben ist echt die Hölle.

Ich hab an der Stunde Video jetzt gut und gerne 6h gesessen.
Gut, ich lerne natürlich auch erst noch die Bedienung. Aber trotzdem, das kann ich auf gar keinen Fall jedes Mal leisten.

Und 300€ für die DaVinci Vollversion muss ich halt auch erstmal haben.
Vielleicht probiere ich mal die MacWhisper Vollversion aus.

Und nächstes Mal nehmen wir den Ton anders auf.

Accessibility is a first class priority in the new @PixelFed redesign.

One example: dropdowns with ARIA roles, keyboard nav, focus management and descriptive titles.

In my opinion, lack of accessibility is the main *real* argument against the widespread adoption of Free and Open Source Software.

I reckon, if, especially European, governments and institutions really are serious about digital sovereignty, they should invest serious money (I'm talking billions with "B") into that area.
