@davidrevoy "we didn't start the fire" 🎵🎶🎙
@davidrevoy The third panel turned out really good!
@davidrevoy "They would kill him." Plato, the allegory of the cave
@davidrevoy
Satire has to run fast to keep up with reality these days. (the photo shown in the link is destined to be iconic)
@arfisk True. This photo was taken on a nearby region where I live; the smoke filled my valley during a full day. The media here are in loop about it, I listened to that while painting this comic...
@davidrevoy We know all about the smoke in Australia! It gives me serious flashbacks to new years day in 2020, when SE Australia was an inferno, and hundreds were trapped in the coastal town of Marlo. (Fortunately the main front missed the township proper)
The only good that came out was a lot of foxhole conversions.
@davidrevoy There's none so blind than those who don't see.
Too bad we can't just leave.
@knodel Yes, the part where she leaves away flying is the total fiction in this comic. Sadly, we have to endure those @$%#@
"It's hot today, isn't it?"
"I don't like discussing politics"
@davidrevoy Oof! I feel so bad for the people in Europe when the weather gets like this. It used to be so rare, and now it seems like it's happening every year, sometimes multiple times. The people saying, "Just get an AC" feel so callous.
This reminded me of a commercial I see a lot on my left-leaning TV channel. I think you might appreciate it.

@ToonLink Thank you for sharing, gold lines of dialog on this animation! 🤣
@davidrevoy I like the last panel with the cat sticking its tongue out
@davidrevoy this is fine dog must live in this universe too
@davidrevoy Thank you for this very apt piece of social commentary.
Nothing to laugh or smile about this time. Beautiful drawings, as always.
"But ... don't you see it?" hit hard.
@hardy Thank you for reading. I probably experienced an overwhelming emotional response over the last day. The smoke from a forest fire 300 km away filled my valley, one of my cats had to go to the vet because he has a weak heart and the heatwave almost killed him (he's fine now, this is one: https://www.davidrevoy.com/article1075/diy-digital-stethoscope-for-cats). On the train back from Paris, an old man said, "It was like that in 1976 too".
I just took my laptop and furiously typed out this story...
@davidrevoy @hardy oh not the '76, I'm so done with people mentioning '76.
Basically every year of my life has been a record summer yet it's always been ‘well it was worse in 76’ ‘we did okay in 76’ ‘it's barely warmer than 76’ .
Like okay we get it you had **one** hot year when you were a kid or whatever. _Its hot every year now_.
Once in a century has become an annual event how do you not see this is a problem????
I would have seen his face when remembering him that in 1976 rich people had to pay a "drought tax" to help the agricultural sector.
@davidrevoy I completely understand. Good thing for all of us that you were able to turn what could have been an angry rant into something beautiful instead. Highly appreciated.
