#Apple devices always had the tradeoff of
- you don‘t fully own this tablet/phone and can‘t install arbitrary software on it
- but it is an _extremely_ nice tablet/phone, like no other that exists
, and for a long time, that was worth it to me. (To some extend it still is?)
The more they‘re leaning into their new terrible interface design and enshittification of their software with ads and subscriptions though, the more that second point fades away.
I kinda forgot how much I liked my iPad, now that it finally works again.
All that is to say, I *love* how the only way for me to get those scary new 0days fixed is to upgrade to 26. I *highly appreciate* Apple releasing 18.7.7 that also fixes them, but not signing it for any device that they deemed able to run 26.
