Thank you, 1Password.
I bought you in 2012. Full version. I upgraded up to 1Password 7. I swallowed the subscription model, and tried very hard not to update to v8, cloud only model, by coincidence.
Now that you raise the subscription price by justifying with "new features" and "something, something AI" I would like to thank you to finally drove me over the edge and using an open source product here too.
Thus you ended a 14 year old relationship.
@rotnroll666 bitwarden. You can host it yourself if you want to. I simply got a family account and it works great across all browsers and devices.
@codepitbull Nope, not gone go into the self hosting business. Why would I? What I loved about 1Password of old: Sync over any service (was crippled to dropbox in the last year, which in turn saves me money there too now).

@rotnroll666 @darthvader42 @mene nononono, self hosting is an OPTION. I am not self-hosting, I got the family option which is a hosted option by them.
@codepitbull Honestly, I can't even find where the company is based, but given that EU hosting is only optional, I guess US and I'm out, just like that. That leaves self hosting, and we running circles. I have severe trust issues in 2026 using any cloud services. @darthvader42 @mene

@rotnroll666 i can happily recommend #keepassxc together with #syncthing . using this combo since years now on laptops and mobile devices.
