My wife and I have literally used #Discord daily (yes, not a single day skipped) for the last ~8 years of us being together, and I myself have used it for several years more to game with friends/my brothers. The reason why my wife and I use it daily tho is bcos it allows to stay connected without initiating a call or wtv - we just have a channel for the two of us, and we could hop in or out the audio channel at any time, no need to accept a call, etc.
We also used it for streaming/screen sharing when she wanted to watch me game and whatnot, but obviously we haven't needed that for some time now. Anyway, for this reason, I just don't think there's any one-to-one replacement for Discord - which is bizarre considering how long they've existed, and how long they've been extremely popular. Regardless tho, the moment Discord starts asking either of us to verify our identity or wtv - it's over, cos no way in hell that's happening.
