Every winter, Art Shanty Projects invites dozens of artists to construct one-of-a-kind huts on frozen Lake Harriet, just a few miles southwest of downtown Minneapolis. For their “Quilt Shanty,” Emily Quandahl and Madeline Cochran conceived of a vibrant, blanket-like patchwork design that transports the feeling of comfort to the stark openness.
