Some whale #linocut prints for #WorldWhaleDay! I’ve had the great privilege of seeing humpbacks and orcas (and other species) when working at sea. They seem as curious about us as we are of them. 🧵1/2

My linocut orca whale is leaping out of the water leaving a trail of splashed droplets of water from the sea surface. It’s printed in black on white paper.

My square 8” x 8” print on white washi paper. The upper two thirds are printed as a deep blue-green rectangle with missing unprinted white silhouette of a humpback whale now filled with a linocut print of the humpback in dark blue-grey. The tip of its mouth and tail extend into the white margin space. The bottom third is a grey rectangle with the missing silhouettes of 6 barnacles unprinted in white now filled with linocut C. diadema barnacles with silver striations and orange centres with opercular valves.
