Speaking of Rover, what's up with these Evoques? They actually look nice and the specs are ok and if you avoid the newer "Ingenium" engines they sound alright, but everyone warns about them breaking down all the time and costing a fortune to repair.
Is it just British self-hate or are they really absolute lemons?
Had a look at various online forums. Verdict:
- Everyone that had one loved the looks
- JLR dealership work is hyperexpensive compared to other brands
- The entertainment/navi system is a buggy piece of shit that mostly does not work and nobody can fix it
- The older PSA diesel engine is good, the newer "Ingenium" engines absolute rubbish
- Oil filter access is comically bad though
- Brakes are undersized, difficult to dose and wear rapidly
- Lots of electronics faults and annoyances
- Driver doors sometimes don't open because the bowden cables pop out (pretty bad!)
- It's mostly owned by toy car users who buy it for the looks or as third car for fun
Summarized: Bit of a lemon, but a stylish lemon! No wonder they're so cheap. Don't buy :)
@yngmar they're also one of the most stolen cars in the UK and the security is bad (at least historically)
