Birds' nest fungus, with periodoles that look like sugar cookies. New blog post: https://wanderinweeta.blogspot.com/2026/02/i-wimped-out-but.html #VancouverIsland #Mushroms #Fungi #BirdsNestFungi #NaturePhotography

Top view of a birds' nest fungus. Like a tiny, beige bowl with a brown rim. Inside the bowl are the spore containers, called periodoles. These look like sugar cookies, plain, without icing. Bonus: on the left side of the fungus, there's a small black fly with grey wings. Beneath, an old 2x4, split and stained, with tips of cedar needles.
