After many DIY book lamp workshops, I’ve refined two distinct designs:

Magic Book Lamp: Uses paper bags for the lampshade, color-changing LEDs, and my easy switch module.

Classic Book Lamp: Features white LEDs, a lampshade made from white or colored paper, and a slide switch that automatically turns the Book Lamp on/off.

These two designs make it easy for me to adapt my workshop to different age groups and timeframes.

A short clip that shows two different variations of my DIY book lamp. On with precisely folded bellows and white LEDs the other with a lampshade made from paperbags and color-changing LEDs. The circuit is done using conductive tape in both cases.

Easy DIY Book Lamp for Kids (11+) and adults — Volt, Paper, Scissors!

I invented this DIY book lamp to introduce children to electronics. I use it in STEM education, but it turns out to be a fun project for adults too.
