Here was the first pass with a fine file. The idea on these, as I understand it, is to follow the angle and file to clean metal coming in from the edge to be sharpened (only). Using the color here of the metal to determine if I did this right. #project #restoration #handsaw

It's been a long time since this saw was sharpened. Probably, when it was manufactured. I am guessing late 1800's up to 1930 or 1940. #saw #sharpening

It took me a good 45 min or so for the first pass. Just took my time. #restoration #tools
I had bought this "saw set" at someone's garage sale a long time ago, it had been mounted on a decorative board and was very rusty. I think someone's "shabby chic/antique" kitchen decoration, lol. Found the instructions for this on Google Books, I believe. Printed out the instructions and they are in a plastic bag attached to the saw set. #saw #restoration
1905 ad for this saw set, lol. You've got to admit, it definitely is well made! Possibly the saw set is 120 years old, more or less (they made them before 1905, and way into the 1930's it looks like).
