I'm in the market for a DNS registrar that's not crap, and preferably EU based. Have my own DNSes, just need registrar services. Currently with schlundtech and they suck. Any recs?

@korenchkin@chaos.social @dngrs@chaos.social @larsmb@mastodon.online I was contemplating INWX, but last time I tried them (I think it was for getting a VPS) they wanted a copy of my ID-card for some reason and a proof of address because I don’t hold a German ID card
they may just not do that for domains but that was a permanent turn-off tbh

@sam @korenchkin @dngrs @larsmb Do note that this may be exactly the same in all domain name registrars. They have requirements from registries (and then from ICANN) to "know your customer", so might need to validate "identity" in some cases. Might not happen right at registration time (but you still get reminders to make sure your data is correct/up to date) but can at some audit time or if any query or complaint.
