No, I'm not going overboard with the #3Dprinting equipment, it's perfectly normal to have a 2kg tub of silica gel.

this is not a consumable for me, I'm drying the used up silica gel regularly. But I need more available at the same time. The AMS alone currently holds 250g and I intend to expand on that. So the 1kg tub was nearly empty
