@me_ Hah, well, I paid $775 for the GTX 1080Ti back in 2017 and it's the best money I ever spent on a piece of hardware.
It lasted eight years of super framerate - was still getting 85fps typical @ 1440p all Ultra in No Man's Sky at the end (and the game has gone through major graphics engine improvements (= more demanding) over the years). Sadly, Nvidia ended driver support for it this past October, so it was just a matter of time until it became a problem.
I moved to Windows 11 and upgraded the PSU to a 1000W unit and installed the RTX 5080. New card was $1000, but it's going up with the RAM clusterf*ck, it seems.
Should last me quite some years!
But, yea, now am getting 135-144fps (limit of my FreeSync display) in the game. Star Citizen now runs at about 120fps also! (CPU is a Ryzen 7 7700X, which was part of an incremental upgrade three years ago).
