A7:
I had this issue long time ago when bit of it broke and I didn't noticed (or didn't care because it wasn't that important), wondered for a while and then solved it by tying the straps with string where the not important strap broke.
Other than that no, but as others suggested already - good fitting helmet can solve this. Usually you don't tighten the straps completely, gap for 2 fingers beneath your chin and the strap (at least I was told).
@ascentale @bikenite #BikeNite A7. Yes, my face gets irritated by everything, I have the most dramatic skin ever to skin. I don't have a solution but I have tips:
@ascentale @bikenite A7. No, not at all. What are you thinking of, when you say 'irritated'?
@ascentale @bikenite A7. I have not had this problem. I wear a neck gaiter up over my nose (I don’t like swallowing bugs, also it protects me from the sun). Perhaps it also keeps my chin strap from irritating me?

@ascentale @bikenite #bikenite no, but I did get a headache the time a pen had gotten wedged into my helmet.
@geonz @ascentale @bikenite There's got to be story behind this!
@oheso @ascentale @bikenite Nope. I'm just that oblivious. I do the ride and fiddle with the helmet... try toget it "right..." we end the ride and I take it off and there's a pen wedged between the vents.
There was also the time I rode the 50 mile Tuesday Morning ride in the wind ... went to get in the car I had then to zip out to singing and OOPS it's in the shop so sprinted that 7 miles and rode back... Then hopped on the Western Flyer Repro Retro clunker for the Level 1 ride and was SO TIRED I could hardly keep up with the slowest ones... every pedal stroke a strain, pulled in, and realized the kickstand had been jammed into the tire.
Fortunately I had 5 more miles with a tailwind to basically e-z pedal coast home or I'd have cramped up... but that was definietly the toughes rdie day tho' I've done more miles (it was 'just' 83)....
@geonz @ascentale @bikenite These are all great stories.
@ascentale @bikenite #BikeNite A7. I cannot say I have had this problem. My suggestion would be to sew a small tube of Ultrasuede or microfleece to cover the strap and buckle, if possible.
@gcvsa @ascentale @bikenite Ages ago I had an otherwise crappy helmet that had a real chamois fitted to the chin strap for this purpose. Comfortable.
@ascentale @bikenite A7. Not the straps, but the foam pads inside. Probably time to wash them... Only really bothersome after a lot of sweat and time, though.
@edd @ascentale @bikenite My helmet always joins me in the post-ride shower, then gets hung out to dry.
