Interesting take.
I am always hopeful that git is decentral by itself, because every repo has copies on at least one other computer and could be restored from any of them if microsoft does evil (like blocking professors or making the access payed or the like).
But the truth is also that this is only the code itself, not the issue tracker and infrastructure.

How about centralisation by projects like wikimedia or openstreetmap?
