@brouhaha the import works well.
But you get symbols that look out of place (at least for me). They will connect properly and so what they are supposed to. Same for footprints.
You will lose the pin mapping feature. Kicad needs one symbol for each pinout-variant of a device.

The footprint and symbol editors are easy to use and have more quality-of-life features than eagle7 had. I might be biased here since I use them almost daily in my librarian role.
