Apparently, Trump is trying to force U.S. oil companies to rebuild Venezuelan oil fields that are too expensive to invest in at current crude prices while a full blown energy revolution is happening with renewables like solar.

Trump doesn't understand that there are different grades of oil. To him, oil is oil, we want the oil, let's go get the oil. Any attempt to explain to him that Venezuelan oil is shitty and super expensive to process into anything useful just bounces off his calcifying brain.

Trump's brain is just permanently stuck in the fake TV world of his childhood/teenage years.
