The plot one year on. #Allotment #NoDig #Gardening
A curved wood chip pathway bends around two growing beds mulched with well rotted horse manure. The front bed is planted with raspberries, yarrow, perennial sunflowers, daisies, turkish rocket, woad and is autumn sown with broad beans not yet germinated. The bed the other side of the path has a manure mound over a rhubarb plant. Inside a metal fenced bed are growing some winter peas and Japanese winter onions. The woody stems of Aztec broccoli and tree spinach are also inside the fence. A chain link fenced bed is lush with green manures as are other beds down the plot. A wild bramble wall is halfway with the dark rectangles of shed windows in the distance.
Mid November 2024 a full sized allotment plot is overgrown with grasses, bind weed, brambles and nettles. The plot is about 250 square metres. The black rectangle of the shed window is visible at the back of the plot. The dark green foliage of wild brambles are visible about half way. The plot is bordered to the right by a hedge and tree line of a nature reserve.
