We have cats, and sometimes the cats drag home fleas. As I notice flea signs, I get flea medicine from the veterinarian, dose the cats, change bedcovers, wash them at 60°C and go on till the next flea catches my attention.

At the vet, the lady dispensing the anti-flea got very excited about the horrible bloodsuckers, and told me to wash all textiles, vacuum carpets daily, desinfect all surfaces, wash the sofa and freeze every unwashable textile.

I feel that is over the top. Or not?
