@ariadne every maintainer can understand.
In #curl we started a yearly distro online meeting in 2024, to reduce obstacles about communication. Just knowing a name and maybe a face helps.
But it very much depends on the individuals. In another project, this works not so great. A distro guy telling me he decided to apply a patch and so I *must do this too* in the upstream. Yeah…

as someone who works on distributions, I understand this shit is hard and the work is necessary.
but as someone who works on toolchains, I understand why people get frustrated and advocate for a world where Linux distributions no longer exist.
because I am very frustrated right now.
