I just backed the #crowdfunding campaign for @bonfire!

It's surprising that there are currently less than 90 backers

I'm really looking forward to their #OpenScience flavor and hope that it will find wide adoption and will make it easier to share papers and scientific across the #Fediverse.

But also their communities idea sounds great. I would hope that it could replace these godforsaken Facebook groups. Yes, I am looking at you, local #TTRPG group!

science needs to own its digital structure : that’s new, non-extractive, open publishing, data repositories, and new modes of peer review. But the glue that’s needed to tie that all together is communication tools owned and designed by scientists themselves. I really believe Bonfire can give us that …
