Drowning, children, Black history
Happy #BlackHistoryMonth !
I'm still not talking about Black History. I'm talking about white US history. In other words, the story of racism.
Do you know that in the US, a Black 11 year old is *10 times* more likely to die by drowning, than a white child?
In a nation that ignores racism, folk believe that this is because Black folk "Don't swim well."🤦🏿♂️
It's 2023, and there are still folk that believe Black kids drown due to race, not racism.

"Is it true that Black people are naturally bad swimmers? Or is that just a myth?🤡"

You let racists define high school and university curricula, so now you have to learn Black history one typo at a time from me.
Your loss! Teachers are nice and kind, and have to worry about teacher reviews and RateMyProfessor.
Me though? I don't care.🤷🏿♂️
But this isn't Black history. This is white history: the history of racism in this country.
I see people trying to make sense of what's happening in the world today, without a basic understanding of US racism. That's an impossible task.
Learning about US racism is mandatory for understanding this.
