It will be fascinating to see if Ofcom will use its powers under the Online Safety Act 2023 against a service provider providing a service which is currently used by multiple branches of the UK government.

Does it need to use the OSA? Prior to the OSA, they had the power to instruct ISPs to block sites that were serving illegal content and used this against places serving CSAM (including, as a ludicrous false positive, Wikipedia briefly due to an image of an album cover with a naked child on it).

@david_chisnall @neil While I’m not conversant regarding the finer points of UK law in the digital space, it seems that the regulator might have various tools at its disposal, should it decide to use them.
