Another #election I'm not allowed to vote in. #Denmark is one of very few countries in the world that does not allow citizens living abroad to vote.

People tend to get surprised that I'm not allowed to vote in national elections anywhere; I cannot vote in the #Netherlands, where I live, as I'm not a Dutch citizen, and I cannot vote in Denmark, of which I'm a citizen, because I live aboard.

That's despite the national politics of the Netherlands having huge influence on my daily life, and foreign policy of Denmark having even greater influence on me than it does most people actually living in Denmark.

Keep on pretending "Western #Democracy" means everybody is equal. #Expats are treated like slaves in Rome 2000 years ago.
