It wasn’t that Nanny Ogg sang badly. It was just that she could hit notes which, when amplified by a tin bath half full of water, ceased to be sound and became some sort of invasive presence.
There had been plenty of singers whose high notes could smash a glass, but Nanny’s high C could clean it. (Lords and Ladies)

Books finished in 2026:
7. Witches Abroad by Terry Pratchett (1991)
6. The Nation On No Map: Black Anarchism and Abolition by William C Anderson (2023)
5. baedan - journal of queer nihilism - issue one (2012)
4. Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson (1992)
3. They Will Beat The Memory Out Of Us: Forcing Nonviolence on Forgetful Movements by Peter Gelderloos (2024)
2. It Can’t Happen Here by Sinclair Lewis (1935)
1. Rainbows End by Vernor Vinge (2006)
Book 3 of the Witches series and book 12 of Discworld. Lots of fairy tales jammed into this one and a reference to The Count of Monte Cristo, among other things.
I'm now somewhat into the wizards series, witches series, and death series but have only just started the city watch series and gods sub series. I guess I'm most into death and the wizards so far but can see the reason why city watch is so popular already.
Now I have to find a copy of Small Gods to continue reading Discworld in order.
